Best Private EV Leasing Deals 2026

Looking for an EV in 2026? You are not alone. Private leasing is the fastest-growing way to drive a new car in Denmark, and the EV lineup has exploded over the past two years. Where you previously chose between a handful of models, you now have dozens of real options — from compact city EVs to family-friendly SUVs and quick performance models. That makes the choice better, but also harder. Prices swing month to month, leasing companies run campaigns with shifting terms, and the same car can be markedly cheaper at one provider than another. So we have put together a curated overview of the best private EV leasing deals in 2026, broken down by use case, so you can quickly find the offer that matches your real-world needs. The list is split into five categories: small EVs, mid-size EVs, family EVs, performance EVs, and the budget pick. Each category contains the three best current offers based on live data from the leasing companies. We refresh the list every month, so you always see what is actually available — not old campaigns that expired long ago. Our recommendations are based on live data from the leasing companies — no affiliate bias, just the genuinely best prices.

How we picked the best deals

Our selection is built on a simple principle: total cost over the full leasing period, adjusted for mileage. We do not just chase the lowest monthly payment — we add up the down payment, monthly instalments, and green ownership tax, and divide by the number of months. That gives a real picture of what it costs to drive the car, and it makes it possible to compare offers that look very different on paper.

We weight 36-month agreements highest because they are by far the most common length on the Danish market and the one where comparison is fairest. 48-month agreements are gaining ground and are also shown, while shorter 12 and 24-month deals are only included if their total cost is close to the longer agreements.

For mileage we use 15,000 km per year as the default. That is the average for Danish private drivers and a fair baseline for comparison. If your driving is markedly different, your personal best deal may look different too — we always recommend filtering by your own actual mileage when you click through to the individual offer.

We do not receive commission from leasing companies for highlighting specific offers. The list updates automatically from our database of current private leasing offers, and ranking follows an open method, not paid placement.

Best Small EVs — for city dwellers and short commuters

Small EVs are the obvious choice for city dwellers, short commuters, and anyone who primarily uses the car as a second or first vehicle in a household without long-distance trips on the agenda. With a battery up to 50 kWh you typically get 250–300 km of real-world range — plenty for daily commuting, errands, and weekend trips inside the country.

The upside of a small EV is not just price but also everyday flexibility. Shorter length makes parking and city manoeuvring easier, and the smaller battery charges faster on a standard 11 kW home wallbox. Watch out for winter range though — under 250 km WLTP, cold days and motorway speeds can quickly halve the real number. Be honest about your driving pattern: under 80 km a day, a small EV is typically perfect.

Best Mid-Size EVs — sweet spot for most drivers

Mid-size EVs with a 50–80 kWh battery are the largest segment on the Danish leasing market, and not without reason. This is the sweet spot between range, space, and price — these cars cover both daily commuting and spontaneous weekend trips, and you rarely need to plan charging stops on normal Danish journeys.

Real-world range on a typical 65–75 kWh EV is 350–450 km in summer and 250–350 km in winter. That is enough for a Copenhagen-to-Aarhus trip without a charging stop in summer, and with one fast-charge stop in winter. If you have space for a wallbox at home or work, a mid-size EV runs at less than a third of the running costs of a comparable petrol car.

Pay attention to charging speed — not all mid-size EVs charge equally fast. Models with 150+ kW DC charging are markedly more practical on long trips than models that top out at 100 kW. Check the specs on the individual offer before you decide.

Best Family EVs — space, range, and flexibility

Family EVs are built for demanding everyday life: pram in the boot, isofix for two child seats, room for a dog or grandparents in the back row, and enough range for both German holidays and extended weekends in Sweden. With 80+ kWh batteries and typically 5–7 seats, most family EVs deliver real-world range of 400–550 km in summer.

Beyond range it is worth checking boot volume, towing capacity, and whether the car can pull a regular caravan. Many families only realise after the fact that their new EV cannot tow their existing trailer — an unwelcome surprise. Always check towing weight specs before you sign.

Expect a higher monthly payment than the mid segment — typically DKK 1,500–3,000 more per month. In return you get markedly more car, and if you are a household with two children and frequent long-distance travel, the premium pays for itself quickly in comfort and flexibility.

Best Performance EVs — for the joy of acceleration

Performance EVs are for drivers who want the driving experience as part of the package. With 200+ hp and typically under 6 seconds 0–100 km/h, even mid-tier performance models deliver an experience that a few years ago was reserved for sports cars in a completely different price bracket. Instant torque and silent power remain one of the EV's strongest arguments.

Expect higher monthly prices though — performance costs, both in the car itself and in insurance. Comprehensive insurance on a performance EV is typically 30–50% more expensive than on a regular version of the same model, and real-world range drops too if you genuinely use the motor's power. This is a car you lease for the joy of driving, not for the optimal spreadsheet.

If you lease a performance version, keep the down payment low. The monthly payment is already high, and you rarely benefit from tying up extra capital in a car where the technology evolves fastest in this segment.

The Budget Pick — lowest monthly price across categories

If economics is what matters most and you are flexible on model choice, you can find some good deals at the bottom of the market. The budget pick here is not necessarily the smallest or worst cars — it is the offers where the leasing company is running a campaign, has surplus stock, or has negotiated a particularly good purchase price with the manufacturer.

The cheapest private EV leasing deals often sit below DKK 3,000 per month at 15,000 km annual mileage. That is competitive with many used petrol cars once you factor in all running costs — and you get a brand new car with full warranty and no concern about depreciation.

Note that budget offers often have shorter expiry windows than category-specific deals. A DKK 2,795 per month offer in January may be gone by February. Treat it as a good find if you spot it — and decide quickly.

How to use this guide

You now have five categories and up to 15 current offers to compare. Here is how to move forward in three steps:

1. Identify your segment category. Think realistically about how you actually use a car day to day. Commuting under 80 km a day and two adults in the household? Small or mid-size EV. Family with regular long-distance travel? Family EV. If you are torn between two categories, read both — it is easier to choose the best in each category than to choose between everything at once.

2. Check the list above for current offers. The list updates monthly so you see what is genuinely available now — not old campaigns. Do not just look at the monthly rate; also compare down payment, contract length, and included services. Two offers at the same monthly price can have very different total cost of ownership.

3. Click through to the individual offer for the full terms. Read the contract's specific terms on mileage, wear and tear, return, and termination before you sign. This is where the differences between a good and a bad deal become obvious.

Frequently asked questions

The list refreshes automatically every month with current private leasing offers from the leasing companies we index. Our database syncs several times a week, so the offers you see are genuinely available with the providers right now. Expired campaigns are removed automatically, and new offers are ranked in as soon as they go live. Note though that the very best offers often disappear quickly — if in doubt, act sooner rather than later.

We weight total cost of ownership over the full leasing period, adjusted for mileage — not just the monthly rate. That means we add up the down payment, monthly instalments, and green ownership tax, and divide by the number of months. 36-month agreements weight highest because they are the most common length and give the fairest comparison. Default mileage is 15,000 km per year — the average for Danish private drivers.

The price we show is the total monthly cost including green ownership tax, spread over 12 months. Many leasing companies show only the leasing payment in their ads and add the ownership tax later in the booking flow. On evlapp.com we factor everything in from the start, so you can compare offers like with like. When you click through to the individual offer, you can see the full breakdown of what is included in the price.

No. Insurance is very rarely included in the monthly leasing payment, and that applies to the offers on this list too. You need to take out both third-party liability insurance (mandatory) and comprehensive insurance (typically required by the leasing company). Expect an annual insurance bill between DKK 5,000 and 15,000 depending on the model, your age, and where you live. Servicing and regular maintenance are typically included — that is shown on the individual offer.

We show the monthly price as advertised by the leasing company — that is, excluding the down payment, which is paid as a one-off at contract start. When ranking offers, we do factor the down payment into total cost of ownership, so an offer with a high down payment does not get an unfair edge in the list. The down payment amount is shown clearly on the individual offer, so you know what awaits at signing.

Private leasing offers are dynamic, and the best campaign deals in particular can expire quickly — sometimes within days. If an offer you had your eye on is no longer on the list, it is either because the campaign expired, the stock cars sold out, or the leasing company adjusted the price upward. Our list updates continuously, so you will typically find a new offer in the same category that is close to the one that disappeared. Act fast on the offers that genuinely stand out — they do not last.

36 months is the most common length and typically gives the most flexible profile — you end up with a relatively new car at contract end and can easily switch to a newer model. 48-month agreements often have a lower monthly payment, but you commit longer, and the car is four years old at contract end. For EVs, where the technology still evolves quickly, we typically recommend 36 months — it gives you access to newer charging tech and software platforms sooner.
